DUST

Here are a couple of website links to some recent press I’ve received:

http://www.picturesmusic.co.uk/images/kyle-zeto

http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/news-interview-deux-animaux

Thanks to Alex, Chris, Karl and Tom for the opportunities.

The website will probably  go quiet for a bit as I’m working on mostly organisational things and getting set up to plan new work that will eventually become the basis of my MA application. There might be some new images in the Loomer/Apiary series as I’m working on more photographic stuff that leans towards nature/geometry/abstraction. The good old masks will still appear, but probably in a reduced role (Barkskin might have to be consigned to the cupboard for the time being, sadly). I’ll probably keep any proper new work under wraps until I can relaunch the website with a much slicker, more illustrative appearance.

In the meantime, if you’ve got time to kill or you need a cure from insomnia, you can look at holiday snapshots or time-wasting junk on my Flickr page. I’ve also set up a Vimeo page to eventually upload some stop-motion animation tests that I’ll be doing later this year. Chances are the Vimeo thing will be quiet for awhile, but you’re psychologically less likely to flake out or fail if you proclaim your intentions to complete whatever it is you intend to do. So there you go.

end of art.

The degree show is over now, thanks to everyone who came and had a look during the week. It’s been a stressful, hectic and ultimately strange experience. It’s understandable that many emerge with high amounts of cynicism.

Besides that, here’s a self-centered gallery of images from Thursday’s private view event.

FINISHED.

Some shameless interweb self-promotion:

and of course, the home page of the degree show website:

new work

I’ve uploaded about 85% of the photographic work I’ve done for my fine art degree show piece. You can see the 2-part series here and here. The latter series will probably have more added to it at a later date, as it isn’t technically that great. Sometimes it takes a few goes to get a selection of photographs that work on a technical level and aren’t boring/perplexing.

I’d like to think that the Folk Logic series overcomes the problematic idiom I sort of fell into, where I just seem to make a mask and take some theatrical portraits/landscapes that feature it. It sort of worked on some level but could theoretically just amount to bad fashion/prop photography. Not only that, but I kept on doing it again in various permutations (Woodsman, Saturnine & Loomer series are almost the same thing with different coats of paint). The Folk Logic work was meant to move in a more narrative-based direction which might better communicate my concerns than a selection of ‘masked apparitions’ that vaguely articulate some nature/culture point of discourse (or perhaps, fail to articulate).

You can see the entire Folk Logic project in the G01 ground floor studio at the Central Saint Martins college site on Charing Cross road during the degree show opening season during the middle part of this month. G01 is the 2nd room you’ll walk into after entering the building so it is easy to find!

SNEAK PREVIEW

production still folk logic

Here’s a rough digital production still preview of my degree show project FOLK LOGIC which will grace the slightly shit halls of CSM CX in installation format next month.

Additionally, there are some new photos in the Saturnine gallery which pretty much complete that run of mask photos in the field.

I wish you all a lovely bank holiday weekend in retrospect.

CASH RULES

flyer

Just incase you can’t read the tiny writing, the times are 4pm-1am. Please do come to this event (in a rad pub off Kingsland Road, Hackney) and buy a drink in aid of our fine art degree show at Central Saint Martins this year. I know giving money to a bunch of (mostly white and middle-class) art students seems ridiculous when you consider there are people homeless and/or starving in the world, but our institution really f#@%&d us over financially and we’re having to scrounge. The amount of fun you will have laughing at our degree show when it opens to the public in mid-June will, I assure you, be worth the price of a few good beers at The Stag’s Head. Plus we have some great DJ sets and bands playing.

skool daze

The Central Saint Martins degree show looms in the horizon. There is catalogue design & printing to organise and fundraising logistics as well as the weird beaurocracy of UAL to deal with, plus the obvious requirement to have some work to put in. So there probably won’t be anything new in the gallery for awhile or any more student shows in the interim period before the CSM degree show opens to the public in mid-June.

Besides that, I’d urge anyone in London to go see the Remnants of the Future exhibition by Uriel Orlow at the Laure Genillard gallery in W1.
